Male Banded Pennant. This individual was photographed in Jackson County, Ohio, but all of the others below were photographed in the Dayton area.

Male Banded Pennant obelisking. Banded Pennants have clear wings with black spots. Their wings have no yellow or orange color (in contrast to the similar Halloween Pennant).
This is a younger Banded Pennant. Younger males have red eyes and yellow spots on their abdomens that will fade with maturity.
Mated pair of Banded Pennants at Germantown MetroPark.
Banded Pennants were uncommon in our area until recently, but they might be increasing their presence. There is a good population at Germantown MetroPark, and I have also found Banded Pennants at Caesar Creek, Crain's Run Nature Park, Spring Lakes Park in Bellbrook, Cox Arboretum, and Huffman Prairie.
