Butterfly Group #5 - Skippers
Tawny-edged, Peck's, and Silver-spotted Skippers are abundant in our area, commonly seen while feeding at flowers in gardens and meadows. Zabulon Skippers are also common, but they tend to be found in wooded areas. Least Skippers are the smallest members of this group and are found around watery habitats. Sachems, Fiery Skippers, and Ocola Skippers are southern visitors, and their populations vary from year to year. (Duskywings and Cloudywings technically belong to the skipper family, but I have included them in Butterfly Group #3 on this website.)
