Copper Underwing, Smooth Amphipyra, and Turbulent Phosphila

This is a Copper Underwing moth, showing just a hint of his coppery-colored hindwings.

Copper Underwing moths arrive at my lights from July through October. 

Smooth Amphipyra moth. These moths are very similar to Copper Underwings (above), and they might be mistaken for a worn moth of that species. However, note the different shape to the PM line. I have seen a couple of Smooth Amphipyra moths in July, but they are much less common at my lights than the Copper Underwings. 

Another Turbulent Phosphila. The larvae feed on greenbriar. 

Turbulent Phosphila. These moths visit my lights in late May/ early June and again in August.
