JUNIPER-TWIG GEOMETER

Some individuals, especially females, have a sharply hooked wing apex.

Juniper-Twig Geometer, a very common species in our area.

The smoothly rounded hindwings are a distinctive feature of this species.

Some Juniper-twig Geometers have speckled wings. There is a lot of variety in this species (as with many species of moths).

Some Juniper-twig Geometers have two large dark spots on each forewing (but this feature is variable).

I find Juniper-twig Geometers from late May through October.

This individual was photographed at Cox Arboretum, but most of the other ones on this page were photographed at my home moth lights. They come quite well to lights.
