ONE-SPOTTED VARIANT

One-spotted Variant moth. This species is abundant in our area from May through September.

Another One-spotted Variant moth. This is one of the most variable moth species; they have endless wing pattern variations. The one consistent feature is a pale dot near the apex of each wing.

Another One-spotted Variant moth. Note that there is a closely-related species called the Esther Moth. Esther Moths look very similar to this species, but they are usually less heavily-mottled and more violet-gray. (Esther Moths are found in pine forests, and are less likely to occur in our area.)
